Relaxation massage is all about relaxing. It focuses on giving you time to recover from the stresses of daily life. When you experience relaxation massage, you can expect a treatment that involves; long smooth gliding strokes that are rhythmic and flowing, pressure that is deeply relaxing, but not painful, a treatment that is designed to soothe and relax you, not to relieve chronic pain or other underlying ailments, soothing music, warm luxurious towels, and occasionally the use of essential oils to enhance both the environment and the effects of the massage
Swedish Massage is a massage treatment involving a sequence of movements using long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping that aids relaxation, relieves tension knots from tense muscles and promotes well-being. It can stimulate the nervous system, increase the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the soft tissues, increase blood and lymph flow and remove waste products through the lymph nodes. It can also be used to help treat a wide range of muscular-skeletal conditions such as sciatica, sporting injuries, tennis elbow, arthritis, and muscle spasms.
Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage works on areas affected by mental and emotional stress. In Western culture today we spend much of our time in our heads, so this treatment can really help to calm the mind and is surprisingly deeply relaxing.
It begins with the upper back, where a combination of deep massage and pressure points help to relax the muscles and to loosen and melt knots. Moving through the shoulders further releases the common spots for holding stress and tension, and then working deeply into the neck where tension accumulates relieves headaches and improves cerebral spinal fluid circulation. Working on arms and hands, before moving up to the scalp, techniques are used that stimulate, relax and revive the whole of the head, increasing circulation and promoting healthy hair. Then a gentle face massage with techniques that help circulation, skin tone, and sinus and headache problems. This treatment also includes chakra balancing, healing the 3 top chakras (Crown, third eye and throat) leaving you thoroughly energised!
LaStone Therapy was ‘discovered’ by Mary Nelson in 1993. It is a powerful holistic treatment with its roots in Native American culture using the laying of, and massage with, hot and cold stones.
During the stone massage treatment, heated smooth volcanic rocks and cold marble stones are used to perform the body massage.
The hot and cold stones ease muscle tension and revitalise the muscle tissue by increasing blood circulation. The benefits of LaStone massage include: improved circulation, increased lymphatic drainage (toxin removal), improved blood flow to tissues, helps to reduce muscular tension, helps to relieve aches and pains, helps to reduce stress and anxiety and can produce a deep relaxation.
The full treatment is 1hr 30 mins this includes a chakra opening ceremony followed by soothing and relaxing massage using both hot and cold stones. This is a sensational treatment and if you have not experienced it before, you will be hooked!
